This is my 1969 Volvo 144. It's bad on gas.

Before they shortened it to "DL", the "de Luxe" edition! With intact mudflaps!
There's nothing cooler than an old Volvo. People who disagree just don't understand and won't ever understand.

How do you find maintaining with parts etc?

Man, I love old 140's !

I never thought I'd get homesick looking at a license plate, but there you go. What part of BC do you hail from? I wanna guess Coquitlam, but it could be anywhere...

I always have a soft spot for the 140, 160 and early 240-series, they sparked my weird love for Volvos :)

What engine do you have? My 142 doesn't seem to be that bad, although I haven't been able to measure it. Of course it's worse than new cars, but what do you expect?

Sweet. A 142 is my Swedish car of choice.

I am jealous...cause I want to live in BC!

This is my 1983 240DL; a relative youngster. Also not great on gas, haha.

I love that color! I almost bought a 91 for my first car, but it had 150,000 miles (which was a bit too high for me) and it wasn't fully stock. I am always looking for them though!

Mine is stock minus some shitty cosmetic repairs (black taped headrests, poorly glued cracked door card), it just needs some fixing up. Exhaust leak and brakes first (waiting on parts), then better headlights, and then new instrument cluster, radio, etc.
I think it has around 110,000 miles, but the odo is broken so who really knows, haha.
I love the color too; after a polish and maybe new clearcoat it'll be even better.

Bad on gas, but still a badass.

This is my '90 765 Turbo.
Also bad on gas (average 20mpg mixed driving).

Beauty! I love the old front end, and a great colour too

Did the same for me, I actually didn't know the 140 existed until I saw this for sale

Yes! It actually has all four mud flaps still intact, I'll put up more pictures later

Closeish, I'm in Burnaby, where are you from?

B20, I don't know what head. I think it should have dual SUs, but I'm currently running a poorly tuned Weber

It's not as bad as you'd expect, price or availability. I actually replaced the exhaust with an OEM kit, and I have lots of parts from a crusher-destined parts car, as cannibalistic as that felt. The only pricey part is the frequency with which work is necessary, and the 5L Mustang-esque fuel economy

Oh I want a wagon.....

Mine's in a fairly equal position with work. had the exhaust done, engine out and all the leaks fixed, still needs dual carbs and suspension and steering bushings

Okay, I know the Weber makes the fuel economy worse, although the power might be better when it's tuned right. I run the original setup on mine, and the engine was rebuilt some years ago.

Nice.
No carbs for me yet - kjet all the way! Haha.
I would like to pick up something with carbs at some point to learn them...I kind of want a 2002, but I have no garage and no money, so it'll have to wait. Maybe next year...

Thanks! I'm considering eventually going for single rounds with fogs and a flat hood, but that'll have to wait a while. Also depends on what my wife wants, since it's her car.

Originally from BC, now living in Saskabush for the past four years. Used to live in Burnaby, PoCo and Richmond before I moved to The Fraser Valley, and Northern BC before that.
WEhat makes the old girl bad on gas? Carb's need adjusting?

Being a 91, it had the new headlight design..
Which on this one were very yellow. So bad that I don't think a kit could save them. It had really bad aftermarket rims on it- wrapped in some Walmart tires. The front speakers in the doors were ripped out so I'd need new ones. Surprisingly, the seats were rip free and looked brand new. They were the same color as the outside of yours.
The main issue was it was in 2 accidents- one in 93 and one in 2013. Neither were serious; so it never got a rebuilt title. But the car got a horribly cheap white paint job (was originally white, but not the same hue). The SRS airbag light was one (it had only one in the steering wheel). And lastly, the AC was broken. I'm in FL so AC is really quite nice to have. The big redeeming factor was that she was going to take $1500 on it. I still wish I bought it.

Damn, that sounds intense.
I lived in FL for six years (just north of Tampa) with a dark green truck...if it hadn't had AC I might've died.
The AC in the Volvo works, but not well. I haven't bothered with it yet since we're heading into winter here, but I'll definitely have to fix it before next summer. I'm hoping it just needs a recharge, but we'll see.
They seem to be up for sale quite often - maybe you'll find another. You could always go hardcore and get a 122...I lust after a clean one. Wagon, sedan, whatever. I need that gorgeous body.
